Back in 1967, Soma was working at IBM as a mail clerk in the office products division on Madison Avenue in NYC. Another employee helped him to get some Marijuana rolled up in joints. Right after work, he walked down to the East River dressed in his three-piece suit and tie and lit up his first joint. He instantly fell in love with the calm feeling it brought to my whole being. He was 18 years old. In the more then 55 years that passed since his first joint he have found cannabis to be one of the most positive forces in his life.
The company became internationally famous after winning the 1999 High Times Cannabis Cup with Soma’s ‘Reclining Buddha’ strain in the Indica category; in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 with ‘NYC Diesel’ strain in the Sativa category, in 2002 with ‘Buddha’s Sister’ strain in the Indica category in 2004 with ‘Amnesia Haze’ in the best strain category and in 2005 with ‘Lavender’ strain in the Indica category.
